For those of you (LIKE ME!) who've not even started writing your overseas christmas cards then there's still time - if you send an e-card....
Marie Curie UK has great E-cards for sale including some wonderful cards that have been designed by Cath Kidston, good for the environment and for good for supporting a great charity.

If your stumped for something to buy year in year out for the person in your life who's impossible to buy for or already has everything then hop onto Oxfam unwrapped - you'll be able to spend anywhere from $10 to $700 on something that is truely helpful and worthwhile, like these funky looking farmers packs for $94!

Enjoy your christmas shopping....

Couldn't Wait....

I couldn't wait any longer, even though it's not finished here are some images of our felt decorations in the making and the Christmas tree constructed out of fallen 'something' from the garden, driftwood, and garden twine.

Re. image above - the idea is to have he small circles will sit on the larger circles and held together by a button....

And here it is.....

'Le tree'

Yep, that thing on the right of the picture! Sans felt decorations but currently displaying one cute glass bauble from Country Road. It looks much grander in real life - I promise!

Alternative Christmas Decor....

Image from the wonderful, and inspiring IvyStyle's flickr site.

It's my sixth 'hot' aussie Christmas and our second with Finn, this year there isn't enough room for the traditional 'real' Christmas tree so I'm going to try to come up with another alternative tree idea in the meantime I'm currently putting the stash of felt I purchased months ago to use by making some crafty christmas tree decorations which will hopefully dangle from my tree. I'll post some pictures when I've dyed and stitched my little creations.

Here are some alternative festive decorating ideas ....

Finding Your Nest....

Gardenia Flower (picked from the garden)

Now that I've managed to find my camera charger I thought I would share some pictures of the inside of the house with you, it's still a work in progress but we're getting there slowly and enjoying the journey. It's amasing what a lick of white paint can do - it's totally transformed not only the look but the feel of the house. We've still got our bedroom to sort - it's acting as the temporary box room, full of unpacked boxes and still displaying chocolate brown feature walls which are screaming out to be painted....

I look forward to popping back with more posts and sharing pictures of our new abode with you all in the very near future and as soon as I find my camera charger!

Home Inspiration Wabi Sabi

Image from 'Simple Home' by Mark and Sally Bailey

The following extract is from wikipedia and was the best example I could find on the web that described the concept of Wabi-Sabi. The attached images are what I could imagine connote a wabi-sabi home interiors with a more western tone.
Wabi-Sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience... beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" .... understated elegance....It can also refer to quirks and beauty or serenity. Wabi now connotes rustic simplicity, freshness or quietness, and can be applied to both natural and man-made objects. Sabi is beauty or serenity that comes with age....

The idea of being surrounded by natural, changing, unique objects helps us connect to our real world and escape potentially stressful distractions....

We Like.... Wonderous Wallpapers

I grew up in a house where all but the kitchen, hall, stairs and living area had papered walls, all in ascetically pleasing, tasteful patterns that blended in perfectly with the house and countryside surrounds... HOWEVER, re-decorating was a nightmare... There are currently so many wondrous, delightful and sometimes wacky wallpaper designs out there I'm almost tempted and truly covet some of these amazing pieces of work to add to my new walls but the joy looses it's appeal when I picture myself armed with metal scrapper, wet sponge and a sweat beaded brow in years to come - because at some point the fabulous wallpaper will need replacing if not due to ware and tear but faded appeal or boredom.

I've added some of the wallpapers above and below that are currently tempting me out of my sensible and perhaps 'boring' interior designing ways....

Barnaby Gates Wallpaper Designs... Butterflies and Bugs available at Rocketstgeorge

But there is a compromise... RocketstGeorge sell wall papers that hang as art work - you can purchase the perspex rod along with wallpaper and hang from your ceiling or wall (no sweat or sticking or scrapping required!) see above and click here to find out more.
